Cura 5.0 beta :0

Just found out about Cura 5.0 coming out in beta. Figured id share the link to try it out.

Im still reading up on it, but its getting variable layer height, and emphasizeing faster print times.

Are you going to try it out? Or what version of cura do you currently use?

I stay up to date with full releases. I won’t likely try the beta version and will wait until the full version.
Variable layer heights and faster print times are very appealing though.

I just watched a few videos about it and didn’t realise before that it could do variable layer width as well as height. Variable width is going to be an awesome change to reduce the tiny little extrusions that are needed to fill gaps. It will also make designing parts easier since there won’t be as much reason to size features in multiples of the nozzle diameter.

I’m with Blair. I will wait for it to come out of Beta. I see a few bug a boos in some features i currently use. But always excited to take that step forward.

For now I think I will be tinkering with Arc Welder.

Cheers

I’ll give it a shot when the mood strikes. Always a big fan of faster, and sometimes multiples of 0.8mm just won’t do for my models.
But honestly, I’m very interested in klipper with an accelerometer. Just waiting for Pi prices to re-enter the atmosphere. I mean sheesh!

Printing with 5.0 Beta as I write this. The variable line width is a solution to a problem in a switch cover for a motorcycle application. I’ll be back with a short report.

Print worked well & filled the “gap” as expected. Projects saved in 5.0 can be opened & used in 4.13.1 & hold changes made in 5.0 ; such as infill density.
