Hello, I’m looking for some technical help here. I am trying to print a 1" diameter ring with words in it, but as you can see it doesn’t turn out well. I have an Ender-3 Pro and use Cura for slicing. I’ve seen suggestions to try using the “print thin walls” setting, but unfortunately that hasn’t fixed the issue. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Saksta, What is the size of your nozzle, is it 0.4mm? Usually in this size, you can 3d print a letter that is 1-2mm thick. But you can make each letter bolder or thicker, or use a thicker font that you want.

I also saw in your picture that the circle is not perfect and there are shifting. You need to level it properly so the letters can be printed perfectly.

SLOW DOWN!
Printing small fine detail will frequently fail when printing to fast. For really small items I will slow the print speed down to 10mm/sec. on an Ender with Cura. Also you really don’t have a lot of room for the lettering you want to print.

Higher resolution slower speeds. A bolder chunkier font will help if you can make it fit. Impact or similar block SAN serif font.

The whole print looks like there is extrusion issues. You might consider calibrating the flow rate.

This might help too. I was looking at the quality of the top layer between the letters. You may also have a partial clog

Hi Den, thanks for the advice. I releveled the bed with tissue paper on all 4 corners until there was some resistance but I could still slide the paper. I also printed in the corner of the bed this time instead of the middle, since the middle of the bed might be a bit warped. But the circle is still not right and the letters are shifting. Do you have any other ideas what might cause this?

Hello, thanks for the advice. I also tried slowing the speed to 25mm/s (instead of 50), and I selected “print thin walls” and set “layer height” at 0.1mm. I posted a picture above, do you think that over extrusion could cause the imperfect circle and shifting letters?

Under or poor z height. The strings on the skirt look off too. Small type needs a well tuned printer.

I would check E-steps, first layer and Flow.

Thanks for your advice, I finally figured out the belt was loose so I just needed to tighten it and looks much better now. Here is the latest print, I’ll try ironing to get it looking a bit neater

It still looks like there is an extrusion issue, a bit under, try flow calibration. Much better however!
