How would I print something like a metal old fashioned coat hanger that would replicate a 3MM diameter wire? I tried to draw it with sketch-up but couldn’t make it work.

Did you try Fusion360 or any other CAD?

I’m trying to work my way through fusion 360 at the moment.

Draw the coat hanger shape on one sketch and after that draw another sketch on the end (perpendicular) to the first one that is the shape of the coat hanger cross section. Use the sweep command on the sketch of the cross section and the coat hanger sketch as the PATH.

I am not familiar with the “sweep” command. Perhaps it is not available in Sketchup free. Could it be the “follow me” tool?

I don’t use Sketchup so I don’t know.

The sweep command allows a shape in one sketch to be extruded along a path formed by another sketch. I would think that there would be something like that in most CAD programs. It may be called something else, some designers don’t like to follow normal naming conventions.
