Alien tape and 3d printing

Most of you have probably seen the ads for “Alien Tape” and maybe though , it can’t be. I bought some at Can Tire, three rolls for about $15, cheaper then adverted on TV. I have to say it really works, I have been sticking things up all over the place. Will it still stick in a couple of years who knows but it seems fine now. Fingers crossed. So instead of buying the "so called " removable wall hangers try these instead. One point to remember is that while it will stick very well to paint it might remove the paint if you try and peel it off, especially over drywall.

P.S. I’m not really sure it is actually made from aliens but might have been developed at area 51.

Do you think that it’s better than 3M heavy duty DS tape?

I’ve used Eternabond tape for RV jobs and it sticks like you-no-what to a blanket! They also do a DS tape. It is extremely difficult and messy to remove. You need heat, a scraper and patience.

I haven’t used that tape so I can’t give an opinion about it but it sounds good. You don’t need heap or a scraper for Alien tape, it is a pain to get off though.

I really only use Tesa 61935 or 61395 tape. It is crazy expensive but nothing I have ever touches sticks like it. I usually only use small amounts (it is really expensive) I have shelves held with 8mm wide and 50 mm (ish) long strips that are holding a couple of KG they have been up for 10 years. It will not come off with out acetone or a lot of heat. 3m300LE also is crazy tough, like hold car bumpers on. It is also bonkers expensive but a little goes a long way. Both are really strong bonding. The product needs to match the job really these two mayn’t be good options for many people the cost and the holding power is likely beyond most applications.

Is tape made from the little sticky aliens really ethical?

Yes, if they travel half way across the galaxy just to crash when they get here then they take what happens to them and like it. They anal probe the hell out of people but do they ever call back just to say hi , NO!

I think Alien tape is suited more for “around the home” projects and not industrial.
