I just installed this on a new K1 Max - some observations:
The new extruder-cutter did not quite fit back into the frame for the hot end assembly. I had to push down firmly to get the holes to line up for the three screws. As a result, the cutter arm stuck (the slot was being compressed, I assume). It printed the first layer of multi-colour Benchy then stopped, I had to pull out the Bowden tube and snip the filament to get it to unload. “TC2841 - cutter issue, cutter may be jammed…”
Eventually I took it apart, put some of the grease that comes with K1 on the arm and pivot, put it back together, and only put two of the 3 screws in (one each side) did not tighten really tight. Now the cutter works.
The vertical guard for the back Z-screw did not fit. There’s a tab at the top that does not go into anything. As a result, this guard was forced forward enough to bind the build plate halfway up. Clip off the tab and everything is in place, and works.
The hopper for the waste requires you to insert a spring. there was no way this fit, the slot in one piece was too small. I had to snip a bit off the spring where it angled parallel to the coil so the “L” shape had less of a tail.
The recommendation is to feet the tube vertically over the top (so glass cover does not go on top). I printed a riser I found onliine that allowed an inch higher for the top, and it had vents so I fed the tube through one of those.
The cables are a trifle short if you want to - like me - place the CFS on the left. Then there is nowhere to screw down the small piece that connects the two tubes.
Be aware the colour change takes over 2 minutes per filament, and creates a large debris pile on the bottom inside of the unit. You may need to empy this out during the build if you are printing something tall. Also printing time - simple 3cm tall articulated sheep - 40 minutes all one colour, 15 hours dual colour.
There are essentially no instructions included in the kit, it’s all online. The booklet includes a QR code but I used YouTube. I have to say, the person in the official video has nimble fingers, plugging in those wire connectors was nowhere near as simple has he made it out to be. It’s awkward getting to some of the screws, have good lighting. I hope your unit is near your PC, or you have a laptop or iPad to watch the video.
