Best 3D Printing Pen 2026 – Expert Guide to Choose the Right Pen

I spent a days looking into the top 3D printing pens because I need one for my creative projects, DIY crafts and small fixes. I read reviews on The New York Times Consumer Reports and Popular Mechanics. They recommend these two as the best:

SCRIB3D Advanced 3D Printing Pen

MYNT3D Professional Printing 3D Pen

https://www.amazon.com/MYNT3D-Professional-Printing-OLED-Display/dp/B01BLQ24

I’m stuck, on which one to choose and could use your advice. I plan to use the pen for drawing 3D models fixing plastic things making small art projects and just creating stuff in my free time.

So which 3D printing pen should I get? I’d really appreciate any suggestion. Thanks!

Hey @alex12 I haven’t personally used 3D pens, it’s not a common item we carry in the shop at 3DPC so my knowledge on them are limited.

But if you’d like my $0.02, since the two you linked are pretty different in pricing, I’ll share some advice from my favourite maker, Adam Savage, who often gives this tip to other makers buying tools (especially in a new hobby/craft). I’m paraphrasing, but the gist is:

Buy cheap first, upgrade later.

The idea is: buy the cheapest version of a tool you can find. Use it, and if it breaks, or if you find yourself using it constantly and wishing it were better, that’s your signal to go buy the better, more expensive version (assuming $ = quality, not always the case but often an indicator…).

You may find the cheaper one is suiting your needs, so as a bonus take that saved money and buy some nice filament to go with it
