Hello, I am having trouble with adhesion printing the brim. I have an Ender-3 Pro (0.4mm nozzle) and use Cura. I haven’t had many issues with skirts before, the adhesion issue mainly started occurring with the brim (which I want to use for tree supports). The filament just doesn’t stick to the bed at all…
Initial layer height, I tried 0.2 and 0.15mm.
Print speed is 25mm/s. Initial layer speed and skirt/brim speed are 20mm/s.
Skirt/brim minimum length is 250mm, brim width is 8mm, brim line count is 10, outside only. I attached a picture of the failed brim print. Any advice is much appreciated!
I usually find that adhesion issues are caused by (a) speed, (b) bed temperature and (c) if the build plate is clean.
Obviously, (a) is not an issue (I print first layer, including brim, at 30 mm/s with no issue). So, check the other two.
Printing the first layer width a 125% will sometimes help with adhesion.
Assuming you have checked the first layer calibration and the bed is not seated oddly. You can try washing the plate with how water and DETERGENT. Not soap. Detergent doesn’t suds much, laundry detergent works well. It will break down any oils on the surface.
Try to do the following:
- Clean your bed using alcohol. To remove dust or oil.
- Check if your first layer is properly leveled.
- Check your bed temp. PLA 50C, PETG 60C, ABS 100C, etc.
- Lower your blower fan speed to 10% - 20%. So the filament will not cool fast.
- Apply Elmer’s glue stick to your bed, this will help stick your filament to the bed
