I wanted to print a cool design on parchment paper for baking, but the ink keeps smearing all over the place! I’m also worried that the paper might get stuck in my printer and break it. Does anyone know if there’s a safe way to print on parchment paper, or should I just use regular paper instead?
In short, regular printer ink doesn’t work well on parchment paper, and it can also damage your printer. So, it’s best to use a different type of paper.
I am not sure about that, this forum is more meant for dealing with 3D Printing related issues rather than 2D Printing.
That being said we do have a whole forum full of extremely smart people with a variety of skills. If anyone knows how to print on parchment paper your help is greatly appreciated!!
I’m assuming you are using an inkjet printer, which I have never tried.
I have successfully printed on parchment with a laser printer. So long as you trim the paper to the correct size for the printer, it should be OK. Note, I have done this with a Lexmark: I can’t see why any laser with good intake rollers can’t do this.
I use custom printed parchment paper from Wax Paper Global for baking and wrapping, and honestly, it doesn’t change the taste at all, even at 400 degrees. From what I’ve learned from them, they use food-safe, water-based inks and offset printers. As a chef and bakery owner, taste is everything to me, and I’m all in on their product. This is just my experience, but feel free to do your own homework if you want.
most inkjet inks and laser toners are toxic to some degree. Toners contain Titanium dioxide that is potentially flammable and might be carcinogenic (in testing) do not eat Inks or toners not specifically made for eating. The inks I work with ingestion is bad. it is a terrible idea and unwise at best.
potato stamps with food colouring and mixed in food grade binder like gelatin, heck decorating icing or even chocolate. way safer.
california proposal 65. It doesn’t need the multi labs independently to say it’s a carcinogen (takes 10 plus years sometimes to do that) one lab with verified results is enough. It’s why they make faster than other states.
