I I’m new to slicers I mainly have these premade STL files but now that I got my sonic pad I want to get more into it which slicer is easier to learn ORCA or Cure or is one better for sonic pad thanks
What printer?
Some types of slicers can only be used with specific type of printer firmware.
ender 3 s1 pro
I should have asked what type of firmware does it use. Orca doesn’t work as well with Klipper so that is a consideration. All other things aside it comes down to which slicer you prefer. I like the interface on Cura better but my new printer isn’t set up for it (klipper). Most slicers will do the same things that the others do, one way or another.
what firmware does it use it uses Sonic Pad so klipper I use Creality Slicer 4.8.2 right now I am going to move to Creality Print 5.1 or Cura whichever is the best for sonic pad overall that is what I’m asking u as you are the only one to answer my question thanks
Creality Print is basically the same as Orca (the interface is laid out differently but it works the same) which are both built out of Bamboo Studio, according to popular lore. I use CP on my K1 max and it is fine. Cura , in my unwanted opinion, has a simpler interface. You don’t have to jump around to find settings, it is all right there on the main screen. Creality Slicer is just an older version of Cura. If you can use Cura (Creality Slicer) with your Klipper based machine and you like it then go with Cura. You can run both if you want and see which one works best for you. That is the thing that is important. As far as capability they are similar, one comes out with a new feature and the others play catch up and so on ETC.
u used or have a Sonice pad if so what slicer u use with it I try to get cura to load but it just gets stuck at the load screen I have AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 64 gb ddr 5 3000 mhz 2 tb wd pro m2 drive NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 it should run with these specs right thank for your help
I don’t have a sonic pad.
I know I can’t use Cura on my K1 MAX, there aren’t any profile for it at this time and I have read that it is not compatible with Klipper. Try downloading it again and see if it works the. With your computer you shouldn’t have any trouble running Cura.
Slicer choice isn’t super important for the sonic pad, cura does support klipper but you need to install the ‘Moonraker Connection’ plugin from the marketplace.
I would say just stick with whatever slicer you are used to using. These days most of them are really all the same, so there is not going to be a strong benefit of moving from one to the other.
Matt
even if its Creality Slicer 4.8.2 so it does everything that cure can do or do I move to Creality Print 5.1
Starting at Cura 5 there was a big jump in capability so it would be a good idea to download the latest version instead of staying with Creality Slicer which is an older version of Cura. It’s free.
