Ender 3/ Ender 3 Pro Filament runout detection with filament guide

Needed one for my printer, but all the ones I found were one or the other, not both together. So I created my own.

These pictures don’t show the wiring, just the relevant parts.
The guide arm has a heat set brass insert on the platform side. That way, if you don’t want the guide, just don’t make it.

The two protrusions on the inside of the cover hold the microswitch down with the magnets that hold the cover in place.

Excuse the dust, I was sanding yesterday

Hi there,

Looks great, thanks for sharing! Have you posted it on any websites for people to download? I’m sure there would be people here who would love to check it out.

Keep up the good work!
Matthew

Great job. Magnets to hold the cover on is a super cool idea.

Where did you get the mini magnets?

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
Necessity was, once again, the mother of invention. I didn’t have any screws small enough to go through the mounting holes in the microswitch, so I had to come up with another (better, I think) idea.

5X3mm neodymium magnets

Thanks Andy. I’ll be ordering some on my next Amazon order. I can think of endless possibilities for using them.

Happy printing.
