Will, you ever get this sorted? If not, just chucking my 2c into the mix.
1c - Make sure the mm3 (millimeter cubed) is OFF in the settings. Creality really should hide this one.
2c - Are you fans spinning/blowing? Particularly the hotend fan (not the filament cooling fan which can be disabled by slicer settings). If it is not spinning (or spinning slow) you end up with heat creep which causes clogs, which looks like what you got.

I found the problem it was the the extruder tensioner the handle was broken replaced it with an aluminium one prints great now.
