Im a little confused on why it says 30 filament changes when its 99% one color and the only filament change should be the petg for the supports. How do I fix this?
30 changes is a very small amount. The changes will happen every layer that both filaments are needed. The last dual filament model I had there was over 2000. Just a word of caution increase the purge amounts, if any I mean ANY pla/petg mix in the model layers it will be very weak.
Just to illustrate, if you ave a 1mm layer height (for easier math) and a single support tower of 10 mm you have two changes per mm so 20 changes. If becomes more efficient with two towers as I would still be 20, as it will skip over to the second tower, getting only 20 is very very small. The same example with a 0.2 LH is 5 changes per mm and 50 total.
Thats what I dont get. Theres no reason for it to purge the same color until it gets the to petg. Inegtvthe decent purging for that but its all one color till then. Its a waste of filament in my opinion. Or I’m just over thinking it and just dont worry about it lol.
It would be odd if it is purging mid of the same colour. What system is it? I have an AMS system before I re built it completely it had feed issues and would retract - purge and re feed not for a colour change but to resolve a motor friction issue.
Purging is crazy wasteful. I usually only print multi materials not colours, and the AMS is brutal. Honestly I tend to use the ‘tails’ of random rolls and have it print them with the auto reload function. The ‘poop’ isn’t an issue because the leftover scraps would have been wasted anyway.
