Filament not extruding from Ender 3 S1

Hey! It’s been a while since I was last on here, and a main reason is that I haven’t had a lot of time to spend on 3D printing. However, I would like to get back into it, and today, while cleaning up, getting my printer up and running, found a problem while trying my first print. I heated up the nozzle, and some filament was melted out of the hotend, and I had already replaced my old screwed-up nozzle with a new one, so there were no blocks at all. So, I started printing, and at first I couldn’t notice anything. I came back to check about fifteen minutes later, and there was nothing there. Next time around, I watched the printer to see if anything was off, and there’s this gear that tends to turn, I believe, to extrude the filament, and it was not turning at all. I tried manually pushing out the filament, and that worked; the gear isn’t jammed, so I’m curious. Where would I start in trying to diagnose the problem?

check electrical connections. that would be my first guess.

Well, took some screwing around, but I found one of the wires on my head wasn’t fully plugged in. As soon as I had it in again, the printer was extruding properly. Thanks!
