Help with creality ender v2 Neo problem

Hi. I need some help. I’ve had my creality ender v2 neo for a week. I’m new to 3d printing. I had a print fail and tried to run an edited gcode file to start on the same layer it ended but not sure if I edited it correctly. It ended up extruding a small pile of filament into one spot so I turned off the printer.
Now when I boot it up the red light near the hot end stays red and the little metal peg stays retracted and it won’t boot past the startup screen. Help please!

HI @Sstdenis1983

Welcome to the forum, I am glad you found us.

I really dislike starting a post with a negative. I am sorry to say I admire your ingenuity in altering the Gcode for the most part this unfortunately will not work.

Within the Gcode itself, there are certain startup parameters that are required to have your printer be able to complete the print. Including things like heating the bed and hot end, and finally homing. All pretty normal things for a printer to do but become extremely difficult to do while working around a print already stuck to the bed.

As much as any of us hate to do it, remove the print and let it restart from the beginning.
You will be much happier with the results.

I know it seems like such a waste of filament but it is a cost of having our addiction… COUGH, I mean Hobby.

Gah! I was afraid of this. lol
I did try to work with the code, leaving all of the setup parameters intact however I can confidently say that I am NOT confident I didn’t totally mess it up. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I reinstalled the firmware and we’re back up and running and starting over.

In the meantime, I had been looking at new printers. Any thoughts on the pre-purchase of the new Creality K1 series?

I appreciate your response and assistance!

interesting question, We were discussing that here in the office the other day.

They have updated a few features on it and tried to add a bunch of stuff to it. Personally, I would not be the first to buy it. I cannot get a confirmed answer if it’s COREXY, although yes I assume it is, I would like to see the wireless interface before I commit to it. the last couple of wireless things, How should I say, need some tweaking…

Ah. Ok really good to know, thanks for the insight.
If one were to buy a comparable printer (cost, speed, features) what would your recommendation be?
I’m not sure I’m the biggest fan of my Ender 3 - though I knew that might be the case going in. I had a Prusa lined up but the deal fell through and since I’m so impulsive - I went with the one I could get right away…

Also - since I’m an all around newb, please let me know if this is a misuse of this forum. Happy to comply!

Hi @Sstdenis1983

First things first, ABSOLUTELY NOT A MISUSE,

LOL, seriously, that is why we started the forum just for things like this. Ask away.

I am a little bias towards creality printers, I have over 100 of them in my print farm. (nothing to do with 3DPC) this is my day job. We sell them here and to be honest, they are a pretty reliable printer.

I am lucky enough I get to play with printers I would not ordinarily get to play with so I consider myself pretty lucky in that aspect. From a personal point of view, if I wanted to build one and customize it a little in the process, I would probably do a voron. I still do not look forward to the week or so build time to put it together. But there is an alternative…

If I personally was to go out tomorrow and buy an out of the box semi-assembled “kit” it would be a Troodon. It’s a little heavy on the budget but they really just work. Solid stable construction, Heads and extruders are good and I can throw anything at it. I have one here in the store and I throw hard prints just for fun and it handles it all the time. You will still get a scattered clog or an end-stop fails but that’s just a normal operation, and believe me, it’s not often.

We just got a shipment of the Troodon 2.0 in the warehouse now, they are getting ETL certified and I am debating getting one but my wife may make me sleep in the garage. :warning:

Hi there,

I wouldn’t personally be afraid of creality printers, I have had many in the past and they are quite a lot of fun. They print very well and are lots of fun to upgrade if you are into that kind of thing! I know they often get crap for not performing well and being “cheap”. But at least for me, I have never really had any major issues with them.

I am very excited to see what happens with the K1 printer, we haven’t gotten any samples in here yet but if creality is being truthful about the features it might be one hell of a printer. I will definitely want to try it out before I get one, but I’m sure that as soon as they come out, myself and many others will make some posts on here detailing how they work.

Happy Printing,
Matthew

Great answer. I’m already feeling the need for a dedicated 3D print budget in my future.

That’s quite the farm! Wow! I’m feeling better about my ender now. Thanks again for your expertise!

I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me again
