Z-banding, also known as ribbing, appears as irregular horizontal lines or ridges on the surface of 3D prints. This issue is typically caused by inconsistent vertical movement of the printer’s Z-axis, loose components, or fluctuations in extrusion.
To fix Z-banding, check that your Z-axis rods or lead screws are clean, straight, and properly lubricated. Ensure that the printer frame is stable and that all screws and belts are tightened securely. Calibrate your extrusion settings to ensure a consistent filament flow, and make sure your print bed is level to avoid uneven pressure during printing.
