Hi everyone, I had a customer who was reporting issues with his K1 Max bumping the frame during calibration which was throwing it off center and causing print issues.
Upon inspection of the machine it was in fact bumping against the side of the frame. So I started looking at everything that could interfere with this function. This revealed that there were socket head screws installed instead of the flat head counter sunk ones it is supposed to use.
The lidar is meant to go underneath of the left side x-axis idler, so with the larger screws present it was bumping into this part causing the skipped steps. Once the correct screws were installed the issue went away and the machine is working great again!
Always make sure that when you are taking things apart you use the right screws when putting it back together. When in doubt the manufacturers often have assembly videos and diagrams for all of the parts so that you can re-assemble them properly!
