I have a laser cutter and I have created my own design, and I have it as an STL, and I was wondering if I need to get a slicer to laser engrave my design? All help is appreciated, thanks.
When Iโve worked with laser cutters, you need an .svg file (which is a two dimensional representation of what you want cut). The design system you made your .stl on should be able to export an .svg.
Before you send off you .svg for cutting, I recommend that you review it using SVG Viewer:
Now, as I understand it, if you want to cut at different depths, then you need something like LightBurn to specify the laser power as you are doing the cutting.
The company youโre sending out to do the cutting will have explicit instructions in what they need in terms of files and how to specify different cutting depths.
Good luck!
