Check out the Prusa CORE One!
What are your thoughts on this vs Bambu ?
Looks like an interesting machine to me, personally I have recently been struggling with justifying the cost of these machines compared to others on the market. At almost $1700CAD for the pre-assembled kit BEFORE shipping, tax, and import fees it had better be a really good machine.
It is around $200CAD less than an X1 Carbon Combo (non black friday price), but with the shipping and import fees I image it will end up being closer to around the same price, probably a bit more. And the Bambu comes with the AMS unit, the Bambu has a build volume of 16,775cm^3 while the prusa only has a build volume of 14850cm^3, and the bambu also has a built in camera.
The active chamber heater on the Core One is certainly a nice addition, but for most consumers this will not be necessary, and the bambu already does an excellent job at trickier materials such as ABS ASA and Nylon.
And if we take a look at this machine vs. a P1S then the P1S is a clear winner. In terms of feature set this machine it is much closer to a P1S than to the X1C. The P1S still features the camera and bigger build volume over the core one, and costs only $900CAD (non black friday price). This is a savings of over $800…
I used to really enjoy Prusa’s products, and although expensive they had their place in the market, you paid a premium for a premium product which would last for a long time. But within the last couple years they have fallen way too far behind. Other companies are getting just as reliable as they are for a fraction of the price.
I really enjoy prusa’s open source business model, and I thoroughly appreciate everything they have done for the industry as a whole, I doubt we would be where we are today without them. But it has become impossible for me to justify buying one over other options on the market.
What do you all think? I am very curious to hear your opinions on the topic.
PS. I think the one outlier to this would be the XL, it is expensive, but it has a feature set that is pretty unmatched. I think that the price they have on that is more than fair for what you are getting.
Personally, I’m waiting for the Zaxe X4, price point around ~$1250 CAD and will do everything and more that the Core One can.
Saw the demo at Formnext and it’s impressive.
I’ll share more specs as they become available since it’s not released on their website yet.
Yes that is a machine I am excited to try!
I am very glad that zaxe is going to try to venture out to more consumer grade machines! The other more prosumer oriented machines were so incredible. Can’t wait to see what they have in stock for us!
I for one am continuing to enjoy the prusa vs bambu fight for who can be the Apple of 3d printing.
I have not used the core. I have no working knowledge of it. I have used a mk3, mk3s and a plus oh an XL too. I also use a Bambu P1s
The size of the core is odd I would have picked something a bit bigger myself.
The Bambu does not have the print quality of the Prusa(s) I have. It is not good at overhangs at all. That is all easily solved my AMS is an issue (as are many others) I also have had to fiddle with the first layer often.
I find the Bambu unreliable, mine the nozzle cannot keep up with the printer and it makes everything matte and not as strong as it should be. I have been plagued with AMS issues, and first layer issues. It prints about 60% of the time but the rest of the time the print fails or isn’t structurally strong.
The two Purses I own print fails are very rare and I have had little issues with the XL but for a bad filament sensor, quickly replaced by Prusa.
They are both good functional printers, the Bambu suffers from a few bad design choices that because of the manufacturing they choose have not been fixed. (the PTFE tubes needing a tool, AMS body cracking, the over heating of both.)
The biggest difference to my mind is do you want a printer that is consistent and reliable or one that needs some mods and tinkering to be reliable.
I think that is Bambu and Stratasys, Prusa attitude is more anti Apple.
Bambu/Stratasys are apple business practices, Prusa seems to be trying to develop the same kind of inane cult following in my experience. Try existing on r/3dprinting around prusa people, youll see what Im talking about.
Prusa poop…Build a Voron or RatRig !
