What exactly does Pronterface do`? Is it worth using.?
I use it for debugging and setting up a printer. Beyond that i prefer cura or prusaslicer atm.
Pronterface allows me to send gcode commamds like m503 or m303 and i get to see the printer respond or do a pid tune.

I do the same confirm I am connected and send commands past that I don’t use it either.

For basic connectivity confirmation, PID tuning, etc, I just use a terminal - usually within the Arduino IDE, but only because I have it installed anyway.
I think pronterface also gives you on-screen buttons you can press to move the various axes.
