I was gluing some PLA together, one piece was very thin, with unexpected results. Thin prints are basically porous which means the glue will wick right through them resulting in your fingers being glued to the parts you are holding together to set. Peeling parts off of ones fingers is not fun!![]()
Been there, done that and refused to buy the t-shirt, LOL.
Well, at least you didn’t peel parts of your fingers off (save a microthin layer of skin perhaps?) Maybe Nitrile gloves would help - easier to peel them off the part than you! (I’ll show myself out)
Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away, oh wait that is something else.
I was working, years ago, with carbon fibre and one thing you don’t do is handle it without glows. Small partials can break off and embed themselves in your skin and cause real nasty infections. So I had some Surgical style gloves and while gluing the fibre up, using CA glue, the glue reacted with the vinyl and melted it . Where you say, well under my finger nails. Loads of fun getting that out.
owie. I’ve not had that happen with the epoxies and such I’ve played with. Maybe Nitrile’s a bit less reactive? dunno. I’ve never looked up the specs. ![]()

OK, I apologize. That may not be funny to you, but the situation is kind of funny in a way. It is also a situation that a lot of people would never think of so we thank you for your sacrifice and your warning.
I thought it was funny
until I had to pry the chucks of solidified plastic from under my fingernails. After that not so much.![]()
