I’m having an issue with the Purge Line just before Printing
I installed the Waggster Firmware with BLTouch support and now when I go to Print … the Purge Line is past the Bed … is there a command to tell it to Purge to Run on the Bed ?
sounds like your bed offset is too far over. try this:
Home the X axis (have Z-axis close to the bed so you can measure) move, with your controls, the X-axis whatever amount would put the nozzle in the middle, so if your print area is supposed to be 200mm wide send it 100mm, then measure if it’s actually in the middle or not. if not then measure how far off-center it is. Then type into the console M206 X(the number you need to move it to be on center) for example if it needs to move 10mm to the right to be in the middle then in console type M206 X10 (use X-10 if it’s to the left), then type M500 to save it to EEprom and it will be set for next time you use your printer double check that it t’s now in the middle and you should be good to go
Hi Glen … thanx for the reply … I tried your suggestion and it didn’t work … I spoke with tech at the store today and tried their suggestion of M851 … and it didn’t work either … this is just too weird !!!
it didn’t affect it at all? That seems strange you are changing the very thing it’s using to position itself. Is there something in your start Gcode that could be resetting it? maybe go through it line by line and make sure you know what each thing does.
Hi Glenn … sorry for the late reply … I did an M503 to list the Gcode and I’m not seeing where the problem lies … could it be something in PrusaSlicer ?
here is a list of the code on the printer … Thanx for your Guidance
Connecting…
Printer is now online.

I was thinking there was something in Prusas’ start g-code (which is added to the G-code every time you slice a model) that could be changing your offsets. your M206 line shows the Y offset is already set at -10 is that what it should be?
Hi Glen … I’ll test tomorrow I have 2 Artillery Sidewinder x1 … and 2 different laptops with Prusaslicer … I installed the Waggster Firmware with BLTouch support … something changed in the process … just not sure what ?
M206 I made -10 and it had no effect … it was originally 0
My x1 on occasion decides the center of the bed (for auto homing) is the far right side and makes a terrible racket and I will push the reset. This happens every few prints. I also have the waggster firmware but it did the same before that. I tried ideamaker Prusaslicer and cure in my case the error would occur with all three.
I never figured where it was coming from and to be honest the printer is so poor that I just wait and reset it when it fails. Sidewinder tech support is simply the worst I have ever seen it took 2-3 months to get a reply from them.
Pay attention to how much time and effort you put in.
I changed the boards, cables 3x, belts, lead nuts, steppers, whole bed (2x) all the wiring (terribly dangerous) Braced the frame, whole hot end, filament sensor 2x, added a BL touch, oh and now the power switch is going. I wish someone had told me to cut and run before I spent so much money and time.
Sidewinder said they would reimburse me but some how after a year I don’t think they are going to.
I spent a lot of time and money and have a semi reliable mediocre printer.
Hi kitedemon … Thanx for the reply … what I have figured out is when I tell the printer to home it homes off the bed … I learned the you can change the by using the M428 gcode to offset it … I might have done something wrong as it didn’t save it.
These are good units to learn from … I considered ordering the Prusa XL like you did … I need to do a lot more research before I would consider it
In my case I hardly use it anymore. It is slow and ok at best. I also am happy to admit mine might have been a Monday morning printer. The dead board out of the box for example. Dupont connectors jammed into JST connectors. It has been an exercise in frustration and at this point I have purchased the whole printers electronics again. By the time I add shipping I am almost double the original purchase price. If I add in the cost of having the parts printed (the reason why I bought it in the first place) add a another one, if think my time is worth minimum wage add yet another. If I get paid my regular wage another pair.
That makes the Prusa XL not look expensive. I feel like my time and paying for parts to be printed I am in the $4000 range for my sidewinder. That is a lot of money for a printer that doesn’t print nearly as well as my prusa and about the same speed only with a 0.6 rather than a 0.4 nozzle. What to buy a printer ? a bargain, $ 3000.
I am embarresed by it, I have that same feeling when I bought my first car. $500 and the engine blew ten days later. Stupidly I put a used engine in it, and dropped the tranny in 3 months.
I do really hope you get it sorted out. I’d love to know why mine homes fine then moves left where there are no end stops and jams. I have a mac, it although advertised is not mac compatible. I either need to ask my ex girlfriend to borrow her laptop for a couple of days (again) or buy one to mess with the firmware.
