I have been trying, with no success, printing larger flat pieces. One piece was a funnel for a Kitchen Aid mixer (from Makerworld), and the other is a shelf for my IR sauna (5.5 x 5.5 triangle). Each one came loose from the plate. Here are some of the conditions:
- Flashforge A5M w/ 0.4 nozzle
- HS PLA
- Smooth high temp plate
- Flashforge plate adhesive.
I learned in the beginning to load up the adhesive on the plate and keep the plate cleaned with alcohol. None of the smaller pieces I have printed have done this.
Any recommendations?
Did you use a brim or mouse ears???
A picture would help.
I am guessing you are getting lifting? Often it is the shape large areas will generate a lot of contraction forces. You can try:
A brim (large one 10mm+)
Printing at ½ or 1/4 speed for the most of the flat part.
Increase the bed and nozzle temp a bit for the first 3 layers
Increase squish
Thanks! What is a squish? I’ll also give the setting adjustments a try.
Squish is the z offset height of the first layers. It literally pushes more filament lower on the first layers. It will increase elephant foot but its a small trade off.
