So I realize that I’ve been getting frequent failed prints (most likely due to colder temperatures) for my sonic mighty 4k, and came across this product that’s a thermal vat band that goes around the vat itself and warms it. Is this product worth it or are there better options to keeping my resin warm for prints?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciate.
Since I know nothing about resin printers and printing let me the first to offer a suggestion. If a constant proper temperature is important then can’t the temp of the room the printer is in be stabilized ?
I have the Thermal Vat Band installed on my Halot One Pro.
Since it is a small vat, and I rarely have more than 250ml of resin in it (I make pretty small stuff), it’s kinda too big for my situation.
I have, however, come up with a procedure that works for me, and might work in your case.
When I’m going to print something, I put the resin in the vat and lower the build plate into the resin (to warm it up too). I turn on the TVB to about 4 (it goes to 5), and watch the temp with an IR thermometer. Usually it takes about 20-30 minutes to get it to 23-25C, at which point I can start the print.
I find it will get my small amount of resin too hot, so I then plug the TVB into an electromechanical timer that is programmed to just cycle 1 hour on and 3 hours off. I make sure the timer has just started a 1 hour on cycle, and I turn the TVB controller down to just below 1 on the dial.
This one on three off cycle with the controller just below one keeps my resin at a comfortable 25-35C, even on long prints. My workshop is in the basement, so it’s a bit chilly.
You may have to experiment with times and settings to find what works for you, but this is what I came up with for me.
