Room filter update

Last week some of us where contemplating the need for a room air filter because of potential micro plastic contact. I purchased a small room filter, only about 9" square and a foot high but it has two filters, one on each side and ran it on high which did make a noticeable reduction in the Hot Plastic Smell you get with PLA prints.

Not being someone that can leave things alone I printed out some ducting which runs from the fan exhaust on the top back of the printer over to the filter inlet. This had an increased benefit in the smell reduction to almost none. It still has one filter open to the room air as a plus.

I had to print the duct in 5 pieces because of the size, tried gluing it together with crazy glue, that failed miserably, so I hot glued it together. Afterwards I tried to seal the joints with electrical tape, that failed miserably also, so I wrapped the joints in duck tape. It looks like absolute crap but it does work well enough.

I think I am fairly safe now from the micro plastic agenda and it’s plan for world domination.
