So, this is what I discovered Sunday morning

Came downstairs to see how a print (PETG - HDGlass) had gotten on overnight. It was finished. This was hanging under the hotend. It weighs just under 33g.
I contemplated it for a moment, turned off the power, and went away muttering: “That’s a Monday problem”
Never seen anything like it. Was very easy to remove.

Remember the movie “The blob”.

Hi @Andy.wpg

This is what often refer to as an explosion. Although technically it’s a detachment. it is usually caused when the first layer does not stick properly and gets balled up over the hot end.

I had one that was almost 3/4 of a KG or Carbon Fiber PetG. All I did was unbolt my hot end, Cut the wiring and install a micro Swiss. It just was not worth the time for me.

I had a pic of it somewhere, It was just nasty. A few choice words were spoken.

Makes me think of looking for shapes in the cloud when I was young…

Looks like a brain or a tree or something!

Thanks for the nostalgia blast

When you turn it just right, it looks like a Chestburster from “Alien”.

To me it looks like a side view of a human brain.
