A common challenge I face with 3D printing is inconsistent extrusion, where the filament flow varies during printing and results in uneven surfaces or visible gaps in the print. This can be particularly frustrating, as it affects the quality and strength of the final product. Inconsistent extrusion can be caused by issues like clogged nozzles, incorrect extruder tension, or fluctuating filament quality.
I’ve tried cleaning the nozzle, adjusting the extruder gear tension, and even switching filament brands, but sometimes the inconsistency still shows up in random spots on the print.
Has anyone else dealt with inconsistent extrusion issues? What are some effective fixes you’ve found, whether it’s adjusting printer settings, changing hardware, or finding reliable filaments? Let’s share some solutions to help ensure smooth and consistent prints every time!
Yes, with my artillery x1. After a huge amount of time and frustration I found where the print was on the bed changed things that was when I discovered the bed was far from flat, and the first layer in one spot was great and in a different spot terrible. So bad that even with mesh and a bl touch it was beyond its ability. BL after a lot of back and forth said beyond 2x the nozzle diameter it doesn’t really work. Mine was more than the width of nickel.
It looks like you have variable elephant foot, so I would look to first layer and warping.
the first grey one seems to have a lot of elephant foot, could the nozzle be too close (bed warp or bed expanding during the print maybe?) The second looks ok ish VFA but …
The white one looks lifted in the right near corner in the pic, same for the yellow.
An enclosure, glue stick maybe, change the bed location, all might help
