Hi All,
I spent some time searching the forum but couldn’t find anything to answer my question.
I am almost decided to get a K1 Max for my birthday. I am using Orcaslicer on my Ender 3Pro and have read that the AI Lidar for bedlevelling doesn’t work on that slicer/K1 Max combo. I will want to install Klipper/Mainsail on it as well.
Is this correct or am I missing something? I know I can just swtich to Creality Print but then I need to relearn a bunch of stuff, and at my age I prefer not to do that. Already gone from Simplify3D->Cura->Prusaslicer->Orcaslicer over the 5 years of 3D printing pleasure.
The first bit to understand is that Orca Slicer and Creality Print are basically the same program and as I understand it Creality Print was derived from Orca. There is a difference in the interface but if you look at all the different settings they are the pretty much the same. Which version you use may affect this and Creality has been updating their program quite regularly. This is different from Creality Slicer which is usually an older version of Cura and not necessarily up to date.I have used Orca and CR Print on my K1 MAX and I really couldn’t find any difference. It is just a matter of getting used to the interface. The basic difference is that Orca puts everything in one column on the left side and Creality splits it into two columns on both sides of the display, sort of.
You can root the K1 MAX with Mainsail or some other version of Klipper if you want but unless you are really into the extras that come with it the basic Klipper that comes on it is fine. It does what is needed.
As far as I know the Lidar works with both but i will do an experiment to see if this is true.
When I tried to send the print wirelessly there was no option, that I could find, to use the pre-print calibration (Lidar). When I loaded the files onto a mem stick and plugged into the printer the calibration option functioned normally. So maybe I missed something using Orca, I use CR Print but the calibration does work. Maybe someone else knows more about this.
tried Creality Print on my Ender 3 Pro, not a fan since it refuses to upload via lan. I doubt it was really meant to work with the older printers.
I’m sure it will be happier with a K1 though so will wait to switch slicers till I buy the machine. Hope to try it out in store in May.
