Weird pattern on prints

Hi everyone,

I’m getting this weird pattern on all of my prints. I have no idea what’s causing it. This is my first printer and I bought it used (Anet ET5x), when I purchased it everything was smooth, and after about 20 prints it started doing this weird pattern.

It seems like the first bunch of layers always start rough then as it builds up it smooths out, but still not as smooth as it was originally.

I thought it may have been moisture in the filament but that doesn’t seem to be it as i opened a fresh, sealed reel of PLA to test that and it still does the same thing.

I had some issues with levelling which made the first few layers run the nozzle right on the glass which wasn’t letting any filament out. Could this have damaged the nozzle? It always happens in the same spot of the bed regardless of what file I’m printing.

Any insight would be appreciated

Thanks
Eric

That is usually caused by the first layer being too close to the bed.

I would try to re-level the bed and then calibrate your z-offset to get it perfect!

Thanks Matthew

I’ll try that tonight and see how it goes

Ok let me know how it goes!

So I did an auto level and re did my z offset, and I seem to have the same issue, the part that I don’t really understand is why it only happens in specific spots on the bed. Any other ideas? Or maybe I didn’t do it right?

I tried flipping the glass on my bed over and re leveling everything and it seemed to be 10x smoother than before

Thank you for the help

Glad I could help!

You need to clean the surface every couple of prints. Dawn disk soapwash good with a sponge and get rid of all the oils from being handled tthen dry completly. Before you print use some 99% aolchol spray or squirt and wipe away. All set!

Too much squish! Adjust your z offset with live z adjustment !
