I use my 3D printer for personal projects, electronic mounts, and sometimes school!

Not bad to sometimes flex 3d printed items on your friends at school…

@frozenrc I cannot let my son see those pics, i will be printing mini shovels and car jacks till the cows come home, although I kinda like the dewalt tool boxes, nice way to sort nuts and bolt… lol

LOL, well shameless plug alert if your interested in printing the the toolboxes check out my cults3d page.

nothing wrong with a shameless plug, I’m gonna take you up on it.

I have to be honest though, I thought the Milwaukee toolbox was a full-sized setup until I saw the cults page. I’m more of a DeWalt guy myself, looks like a Dewalt sales guy threw up in my garage.

Well all the designs for the ToolBox, Packout, and toolchest look great in dewalt colors as well! If I could find a good color match to Makita I’d have made a few of those too. I don’t like having to paint the accessories so I always try to print and design in a way to use the raw filament color.

I use their info but no plans to join the 501st. Our Garrison is poor with comms. Some of the 501st guys have quite the attitudes. Don’t need to associate with negative peeps!

there are some with attitudes. this is true. Some really nice people too.

Besides the earrings for my better half, I mostly print for my RC planes. Misc stuff. Small engine mounts for Cox engines, thrust washer, control horns, wing and tail 90 degree holders, servo plug locks, and starter cams for my spring starters on Cox engines.

Now I will just have to figure out what filament will work with nitro fuel. All I have is PLA, and PETG. I have printed out things in both and will see whether or not one fails or wears before the other. But I won’t know till spring as it is a bit chilly here now…

I print anything that is called for, will post pics shortly, just arrived today.
anything from widgets to telescoping light sabers to full scale models of structural steel building. Also have a on going call for 12 H0 scale rail cars for people at work, do those in SLA. Having fun!

Is there a prize for outside-the-box uses?

Defrosting the fridge:

In case you’re wonder “Why?”, this fridge has an issue with ice-buildup. There is a thick layer of insulation between the evaporator coils and the inside of the fridge. The fan that circulates air across the evaporator ices over about every 2 years. The problem is that by the time the ice build-up has reached the fan the insulation layer is stuck to the ice.

the first time I did this, I used a heat gun. That ended up deforming some plastic that aligns the ice maker. I had to re-heat that area to deform it back to where it was the ice tray would go back in.

Since the heat gun was overkill, the second time, I used a hair dryer but because of the thick insulation and the fact that you can’t get it off (it’s iced on), you end up standing there for hours.

My family criticises me for being a pack-rat, but it often pays off. A spare Longer power supply and Longer heat bed that I bought from 3DPC’s clearance pages came in handy for this.

At this point, I have the back insulation off and it’s in the final stages of defrosting.

I would give a prize for that, thats some serious outside (or inside) the box thinking

I got into 3d printing to learn how it works and what makes it tick. Along the way ive printed a bunch of neat things and doodads, but mostly this is just a facinating hobby for me.
