What would cause this?

Hello friends!

I just got my new X2D over the weekend, and am trying some homegrown tokens I made - but as I’ve been printing with the BL PLA BLACK, I’ve come in to see part way throguh the print it’s banding a little with what I would guess are air pockets?

Two question for the newbie here:

  1. What might be causing this effect?
  2. Is there some way I might be able to fix this after the fact (eg adding some resin, or even a quick blowover with a butane torch to re-melt the plastic to smooth it out?)

What you are seeing might just be artifacting which is an unfortunate effect of 3D printing. This affects different printers in varying degrees and ways.

What layer height are you using? For small high detail printing you should use the finest layer height you printer can do. You should slow your print speed down as well.
