Xact Metal has partnered with voestalpine company Uddeholm to supply Corrax tool steel for the additive manufacture of tooling and moulding applications.

Looking forward to growing their presence in the tooling and moulding arena, Xact Metal is committed to making metal powder bed fusion technology more accessible. Amid this expansion, the company is striving to offer a more cost-effective way to utilise metal 3D printing and provide their users with unique materials, including Uddeholm’s Corrax tool steel.

Corrax tool steel, renowned for its corrosion resistance, absence of cobalt, and fine exterior finish after polishing, is anticipated to be a game-changer. Xact Metal asserts that their metal 3D printing systems together with this material can conquer the constraints mold creators used to face while formulating ideal internal structures.

Juan Mario Gomez, Xact Metal CEO, expressed his pride in their collaboration with Uddeholm, saying, “Being able to offer revolutionary Corrax metal powder is an achievement for us. The merging of our practical, cost-effective 3D printing technology and Uddeholm’s expertise in material has made it possible for us to deliver additive manufacturing solutions to the tooling and moulding sector. Uddeholm’s experience and innovation in the steel industry add immense value to our partnership.”

Vice-President of Sales from Uddeholm, Kevin Rochford, conveyed his delight over the partnership with Xact Metal and pointed out that “our association not just marks a key milestone in additive manufacturing, but also heralds a new epoch for the mould and tooling industry. This collaboration is where complexity meets efficiency, and convention meets innovation. Given our extensive history in the steel business, it’s the next logical step for Uddeholm.”

Earlier this year, Xact Metal partnered with metal surface finishing company GPAINNOVA America, to provide a complete metal additive manufacturing solution that encompasses design, printing, and finishing.
