I was printing a model on my CRM4 that started well. The raft was printed but then when I left the print for nine hours I came home to this. My bed is 65 degrees and I applied glue stick on the bed. Should I use blue tape on my bed? I put a layer of blue tape down but will this help?
I had a failed print with the blue painters tape. The print slid off the bed. Here are the two photos. The bed temp was 65 degrees. The nozzle was 210 degrees. The print failed still. What am I doing wrong? Is my temp too high for the blue painters tape?
Should I be using a brim or a raft for my printer on the CRM4 with blue painters tape? Should I lower the temp of the build plate?
I would check the initial layer nozzle height. You may be to far off the bed.
If you use glue then tape is over kill. It looks like you are using a PEI sheet on the bed, if so try printing without anything else.
I am trying with just blue painters tape. The glue stick doesn’t work. The PEI sheet is too slippery. It is not like the K1Max PEI.
I am trying with brim but that is not taking hold.
I applied uhu glue stick to the top of the blue painters tape.
If I just use the PEI build sheet the PLA slides around and won’t take hold
Have you cleaned he PEI? I use alcohol every print and sometimes I will wash he see with detergent. Not soap, detergent does not foam.
Is your Z height correct?
I use Creality slicer. Should I use prusa slicer? Does the slicer make a difference?
My z-height is 1.45. I will try using isopropyl alcohol on the PEI bed. I will see if that works.
The slicers all behave differently. In my experience no one is always better they are just different. I do not think your issues stem from the slicer. 1.45 seems high but if you have confirmed it is correct it doesn’t matter.
Other considerations, drafts can cause the layers to release, bed warping too. Z height as mentioned and the cleanliness of the bed.
Creality print is based on Orca Slicer which is BambuStudio which is Prusa Slicer which was Based on Super Slicer so there isn’t a lot of difference. They mostly play leap frog with new features and catch up to each other. Creality Print gets a bum rap from everyone as an also ran but it has been kept up to date with frequent upgrades in new versions. Recently Orca Slicer made a big deal out of having a bunch of new features but most of them were already in Creality Print. There isn’t a good reason not to use Creality Print (not to be confused with Creality Slicer which was crap).
I cleaned my PEI with isopropyl alcohol. The print still failed.
P.S. my experience with glue on PEI is that it doesn’t work very well. Clean is better.
Z height, I think, should at least be the same as your prints layer height. If not smaller, so the initial layer gets appropriately squished to the bed. Check it old school way, see if a sheet of paper barely slides under the nozzle.
I have a generic PEI sheet on my CR10S Pro and always use glue and never have any problem with the print not adhering to bed.
Has anyone tried using the Siboor glu stick on their PEI sheet? How effective is it?
